Locksley 11 x Davignon 1 x Matcho AA
Born 20 April 2007
In July 2007 we received the catalogue for the Elite Foal Auction at Verden in August of the same year although we had no intention of either going or purchasing a foal. Flicking through the catalogue a foal caught my eye based on her bloodlines & I couldn't let it go.
We made the trip, we bought the foal and Leonie arrived in the October of the same year.
3 years later we had decided to downsize the breeding and reluctantly put Leonie up for sale and we were delighted that she was bought by International dressage rider Kate Cowell who successfully competed her in young horse classes - she came 2nd in the Badminton Young Horse Final as a 5 year old.
Kate subsequently decided to try her hand at breeding and Leonie came back to us on livery in 2015. She has gone on to produce 3 fabulous foals for Kate, by Dimaggio, Franklin and Feinrich, all of which have been awarded Premium by the British Hanoverian Horse Society. Fastnet Rock (by Franklin) came 4th at the Annual Show in 2017 in a class that the German Verband judge described as the best class of colts he had ever seen.
The mare line is so important. Our decision to buy Leonie as a foal came about after looking at many mares and foals at auctions and noting that many of those we liked had Matcho AA on the dam line. Davignon was well know to us and Locksley 11 brings together the thoroughbred blood of Lauries Crusader with Weltmeyer.
Leonie is now ours again and here she will remain. In 2020 she gave birth to a tall black filly by the Negro stallion Navarro & who, with both thoroughbred & Anglo Arab in her back pedigree could be destined for a career in any discipline.
Leonie has been scanned in foal to Furst Zonic and is due April 2023
